Welcome to Balerno High School!
Balerno High School is situated in the southwest of Edinburgh. Having served the local community for almost 40 years, it is now part of Edinburgh Leisure’s venues as we manage public access to the facility outside of school hours.
The facility is home to a 25 metre Swimming Pool, offering lane swimming, family fun sessions and various swimming lessons. Booking is required for Swimming sessions at Balerno.
The on-site Sports Hall is also available for Badminton and a circuit-based fitness class.
Bookings at Balerno
Unlike our other pools, we are unable to remove booking for lane and casual swimming at Balerno High School at this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
All Fitness and Gym Classes, Court bookings for Racquet Sports and coaching classes require pre-booking. See our timetable for more information.

Swimming Lessons at Balerno
Balerno High School offers Swimming lessons for ages 2+ Saturdays and Sundays.
Scheduled classes include the Swim Nippers, Pre-School and Swim Skills 1, 2, 3 and 4 courses.
- Current customers without an activated Coaching HomePortal account - please activate your account first. Click here for a guide to help you activate your account.
- Current customers with an activated Coaching HomePortal account - Click here to go to the Coaching HomePortal. When booking your class please ensure you enter your email and password under the Returning Customers section.
- New customers - Click here to go to the Coaching Homeportal. Once you have selected your class, select the option to Register as a new customer.
