Golf Membership Terms and Conditions

1. Golf Membership

Golf Membership is designed to give you the customer the opportunity to pay for the use of Edinburgh Leisure’s golf courses by monthly Direct Debit or a one-off payment for the year.  There are a number of categories of Golf Membership which give you the benefits as follows:

1.1 All courses memberships

These entitle you to play at the following courses:

    • Braid Hills Golf Course
    • Carrick Knowe Golf Course
    • Craigentinny Golf Course
    • Portobello Golf Course 
    • Wee Braids Golf Course
    • Silverknowes Golf Course 

1.2 7 day memberships

These entitle you to play Monday – Sunday

1.3 5 day memberships

These entitle you to play Monday – Friday


1.4 Corporate Memberships

This entitles employees of companies registered with Edinburgh Leisure to receive a corporate discount. Proof of indemnity must be provided.

1.5 Concessionary Memberships

To qualify for concession membership, proof of eligibility must be produced.

1.6 Young Adult Memberships

To qualify for one of the Young Adult Memberships you must be 18-24 years old. Proof of eligibility is required.


1.7 Portobello and Wee Braids

This entitles you to golf at Portobello and Wee Braids Golf Course Monday-Sunday.


1.8 Short Term Golf Passes


1.8.1 You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase a 3 Day Golf Pass or 7 Day Golf Pass.

1.8.2 The 3 consecutive days or 7 consecutive days start from the moment the pass is purchased. If a start date in the future is selected, then it will start from 0:01 on that date.

1.8.3 The 3 Day Golf Pass and 7 Day Golf Pass give access to all 6 Edinburgh Leisure Golf Courses for the selected duration.

1.8.4 Golf Passes can be purchased online or in venue.

1.9 Guest Rate Passes

1.9.1 Members who pay annually or by direct debit can bring a guest for a round and pay a reduced guest rate price.

1.9.2 Each member can bring up to a maximum of 3 guests.

2. Direct Debit 

If you pay by direct debit, the monthly direct debit amount will be subject to change at the discretion of Edinburgh Leisure. All members will be given 10 working days notice of any price change. There are two direct debit amounts - a higher rate charged from April to September and a lower winter rate charged from October to March.

If your bank rejects your direct debit, Edinburgh Leisure will reapply again during the same month. You will be notified of this in advance. If your membership remains unpaid 15 days after the payment due date, Edinburgh Leisure will lapse your membership.

3. Promotional Activities

Promotions will be run on an ongoing basis across Edinburgh Leisure. All promotions will have a limited lifespan, limited availability and will be subject to specific terms and conditions. Unless otherwise stated, members cannot benefit from more than one promotion at the same time.  Promotional pricing can be withdrawn at any time.

4. Opening and Closing

All courses will open and close as advertised. All courses will be subject to closure on 25th, 26th December and 1st, 2nd January. All courses will be subject to closure for special events. In normal circumstances, customers will be given 14 days notice of any closure. There will be times when courses will be closed without notice due to inclement weather.

5. Cancellations

You can cancel your membership directly with Edinburgh Leisure.  Please contact us via this form.

It is also advisable to cancel your Direct Debit with your bank. There is no cancellation fee. Should you cancel and rejoin you will be subject to another joining fee. Edinburgh Leisure reserves the right to withdraw your membership or some of the benefits without notice.

If you have paid up front for one year’s membership, this payment is non-refundable.

6. Membership Benefits

Your Golf Membership Card allows you to book golf online 8 days in advance.
