Fitness Class Terms and Conditions
Fitness class bookings
You can book fitness classes online and on the App. If fitness classes are not included in your membership you must pay at the time of booking.
Online and App bookings open at 9pm. If fitness classes are included in your membership or you are a Discount Card holder you can book 3 days in advance online and via the App (e.g. you can book on a Sunday at 9pm for classes on Wednesday). If you are not a member or have a 10 for 8 card, you can book from 9pm, 2 days in advance online and via the App.
We are not limiting how many bookings you can make, however, we ask that you respect other customers and book a maximum of two per day that you are likely to attend to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to book their favourite class.
No one can be in two places at once, so customers won't be able to book two classes that run at the same time.
If you book classes on the App you can add them to your calendar.
You can also check your bookings by clicking 'My bookings' on the App or you check 'upcoming bookings' on the online booking page.
Online Fitness & Active Communities Class bookings
You can book online classes via the MoveGB link provided on the Edinburgh Leisure website and on the App. If online fitness classes are not included in your membership you must pay at the time of booking.
10 for 8 visits and loyalty points cannot be redeemed against online class bookings. Discount Card holders are also unable to receive a discount for online classes.
Online class bookings open 3 days (72 hours) prior to the class start time. e.g. you can book into a class scheduled for Thursday at 10am from 10am on the Monday).
You can also check your current and previous bookings by clicking 'Bookings' on the MoveGB website.
Arriving in time for your class
We kindly ask customers who have booked into a class to swipe attendance at reception at least 5 minutes prior to the class starting, to allow enough time to get to the studio or pool and be ready for your class starting. For customers who have booked into an online fitness class please follow your class link to join your class 5 minutes before the class is due to start and wait for your instructor to let you into your class. This is for safety purposes and to allow enough time to get to the studio or pool and be ready for your class starting. If you are late you may not be able to join your class.
To avoid any incorrect No Show charges, please always use your membership card or fob to swipe in for classes.
When you swipe in for a class, our system will mark you as attended for any classes due to start within the next 3 hours.
For online classes, the instructor will lock access to the class at the start time to allow the class to start on time without disrupting the class by admitting late entrants. Refunds will not be processed due to missing the class start time.
Fitness class waiting lists (in venue only)
Our classes are very popular and fill up quickly. If the class is full, you can add yourself to the waiting list.
If fitness classes are not included in your membership, there is no charge to book onto the waiting list, but if you then get booked into the class you will have to pay to confirm your place.
We send out emails at regular intervals throughout the day alerting you to any spaces that have become available in the classes that you’re on the waiting list for. The email will contain a link you can click to automatically book yourself into the class and pay if required. There is no priority position - everyone on the waiting list receives the email at the same time ensuring an equal chance of booking the space. First come, first booked!
If you are on a waiting list and decide that you no longer want a space in the class, please remove yourself from the waiting list.
Due to the high capacity of classes, there is no waiting lists for online classes.
Fitness class cancellations and charges
Isn’t it frustrating when you can’t get a place in your favourite fitness class? Even more so when you find out that a space was available because someone booked but didn’t turn up or cancelled at the very last minute! It may shock you to learn that across Edinburgh Leisure we have hundreds of such occurrences every week. That’s a lot of people missing out on the chance to enjoy the brilliant buzz of group exercise!
Please cancel more than 3 hours before the class is due to start to allow other customers the opportunity to gain a space in the class and you won’t be charged for cancelling your space.
If classes are included in your membership you can cancel your booking online and on our App, but not by telephone or in person in a venue. If you cancel your booking less than 3 hours before the class is due to start a Late Cancellation fee of £3 will be applied to your account. If you do not turn up for your booking or don’t swipe in at reception a No Show fee of £3 will be applied to your account. We will email you the day after the fee is applied with details on how to make the payment.
Payment for any fees must be made within 7 days. Anyone who has an unpaid fee on their account for more than 7 days won't be able to make any new bookings until the fee is paid.
If you
have paid for a fitness class, there is no refund and we will not move your
booking if you change your mind.

Payments and refunds for our online classes are administered by our third-party provider, MoveGB. The refund process period takes 5 to 10 days.
If you have booked and paid for an online class and you need to cancel, you can do so by contacting askus.edinburghleisure.co.uk – please note that requests for refunds must take place prior to the class start time.
If you have booked and paid for a class that Edinburgh Leisure cancels, we will notify you by email and automatically process the refund.
Occasionally, technology lets us down and classes are cancelled at short notice. We will endeavour to contact customers asap to make them aware of the situation and will then automatically process a refund .
What happens if Edinburgh Leisure cancels a fitness class?
If we cancel a class we will contact you by text or a phone call to let you know. If you have paid for a booking, we will credit your account with the relevant number of Loyalty Points.
