Active Mums - Support and Classes for Mothers to Keep Active

Our Active Mums project supports mums living on a low income to get active, connect with other mums in their community and improve the health and wellbeing of their children, and themselves.

Active Mums works with Mums to incorporate physical activity into their lives and ensure that their children enjoy active childhoods. Mums who are referred to the project participate in eight weeks of group fitness sessions led by qualified instructors. They also receive an Edinburgh Leisure card, which gives them six months access to gym, swim and fitness classes for £1 to encourage them to continue exercising.

We accept self-referrals from Mums, as well as referrals from GP’s, Healthcare Workers, Family Centres, Social Workers and other professionals working with families. Mums can bring babies under 2 with them to class.

If you like to refer yourself (or someone you are working with) for our courses running at Leith Victoria Swim Centre, Meadowbank Sports Centre or Ainslie Park Leisure Centre, please email Registration opens several times throughout the year.

Days and times:

Leith Victoria – Monday 1.10pm

Ainslie ParkTuesday 11.30am

Meadowbank – Tuesday 1.30pm

We also offer drop-in Active Mums classes as part of our main fitness class timetables. These are bookable online or via the Edinburgh Leisure app, and children under 3 are welcome in the studio.
