If you want to sprint 100 metres, run a 5k or train for a marathon, our outdoor and indoor tracks can prep you for a race, or simply use it to improve your technique or stamina.
Our staff can offer you advice on training, either in the gym or on the track, and if you want to take this sport to competition level then we have associations with athletic clubs.
Run in the Footsteps of legends...
Meadowbank Sports Centre was the first Commonwealth venue to host two Games, in 1970 and 1986. It has a spectacular history of medal winners who have raced on the outdoor 400 metre eight lane track – Mary Peters, Sir Seb Coe, Daley Thompson, Linford Christie, Dame Kelly Holmes.
Scottish athletes train here and you can too. As part of the Biggest Club in Town, Meadowbank also has an indoor track facility available, ideal for the winter months.
If you prefer pavement pounding, benefit from the support and camaraderie of a group by joining a regular session.
Jogscotland has groups around Edinburgh suitable for beginners and more experienced runners with several leaving from or near to our venues. These are a great way to boost fitness, motivation, times and stamina - and you certainly don’t have to be Mo Farah to join up.
Jog Leaders are specially trained to help you reach your fitness goals while feeling safe, supported - and sociable. They will take you through a variety of structured runs so you get used to all the different types of jog training you need to be active and healthy.
