Where can I work?
You can coach almost anywhere in Edinburgh as our programme runs in venues all over the city including the new Meadowbank Sports Centre and the iconic Royal Commonwealth Pool.
Where you could work depends on your availability, desired hours and sport. We take your venue preferences into consideration and where possible try to match you with a preferred venue. Remember, you can use our gyms, pools and other fantastic facilities in your spare time as part of your FREE staff membership .
Coaching Roles with Edinburgh Leisure

Swim Teacher
Work with our friendly and award-winning Aquatics and Learn to Swim teams, transforming ordinary people into swimmers.
Required Qualifications: SSTQ, UKCC Aquatics Level 2 or equivalent

Gymnastics, Trampoline and Preschool Gymnastics Coach
As a Coach you will be responsible for delivering fun, engaging and inspiring classes, helping participants succeed to their full potential within our recreational programme.
Required Qualifications: Minimum SCC or UKCC Gymnastics Coaching Level 2 in at least one of General, Women's Artistic, Men's Artistic, Trampoline or Preschool, or Gymnastics Activity Instructor
OR embark on the Gymnastics Coach Trainee Programme to become qualified.
Tennis Coach
Work with all ages and abilities on court at our top class facilities at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre and outdoor at Meadows Tennis.
Support the delivery of a range of tennis sessions and coaching lessons for children and adults.
Required Qualifications: Minimum LTA Level 1 Assistant and up to date LTA Coach Accreditation
Athletics Coach
Help to deliver our athletics coaching programme, with fun and engaging classes, encouraging participants to a healthier, more active life.
Available at Ainslie Park and the new Meadowbank Sports Centre.
Required Qualifications: SCC Level 1 / Sports Leadership SCQF Level 5 qualification with relevant Scottish Athletics Introductory Coach Education Certification.
Diving Coach
Work at the renowned Royal Commonwealth Pool, with top of the range diving pool and dry diving teaching facilities. Our Dive Coaching programme offers the full pathway from preschool to performance diving, developing Olympic and National Team divers.
Work with experienced and dedicated dive coaches and benefit from inhouse and external CPDs for coaches.
Required Qualifications: ASA/UKCC Level 2 Diving Coach or equivalent and current RLSS UK NPLQ or equivalent
Climbing Instructor
Help customers of all ages, stages and abilities develop their climbing skills at the iconic Edinburgh International Climbing Arena.
From taster courses and family introductions and our coaching programme to lead climbing, the advanced Ratho Youth Squad and our outdoor climbing programme, teach, coach and deliver sessions at all levels.
Required Qualifications: Rock Climbing or Climbing Wall Instructor qualification
Football Coach
The Edinburgh Leisure Football Academy focuses on skill development, getting moving and having fun, delivering for kids from 18 months to P7.
Work through five stages of development at venues across Edinburgh.
Required Qualifications: SCC Level 1 / Sports Leadership SCQF Level 5 qualification with relevant Scottish FA Introductory Coach Education Certification.
Multi-Sports Coach
Help our pre-school customers develop a range of sporting skills across a variety of activities, as part of our Jump into Sport coaching programme.
Required Qualifications: SCC Level 1 / Sports Leadership SCQF Level 5 qualification with relevant Introductory Coach Education Certification in a relevant discipline.
Basketball Coach
Our introductory basketball classes are a fun and enjoyable way to introduce children of to the sport through 4 age and stage specific classes.
Required Qualifications: SCC Level 1 / Sports Leadership SCQF Level 5 qualification with relevant Scottish Basketball Introductory Coach Education Certification.

Getting into Coaching - How Edinburgh Leisure can help
If you are interested in getting into coaching but aren’t yet qualified we could support you in gaining your qualifications, before offering you a role in our valued coaching team.
Our Swim Teacher and Gymnastics Trainee programmes pay you a salary while providing training and support to become a qualified coach.
