We deliver coaching across multiple sports, but we have six priority sports where we focus on providing high-quality coaching and development opportunities.
We offer a range of coaching roles, from permanent full-time positions to flexible part-time and casual opportunities, allowing you to shape your career to fit your lifestyle. Our coaching programme is built on a shared passion for inspiring and developing people of all ages and abilities.
Swim Teacher
Join Edinburgh’s largest Learn to Swim programme by becoming a Swim Teacher with our friendly and award-winning swim teams. Help individuals of all ages develop essential swimming skills and a lifelong love for the water.
Required Qualifications: Scottish Swimming Teaching Qualification (SSTQ).
Gymnastics Coach
Join our Gymnastics and Trampoline coaching teams and inspire the next generation! As a Gymnastics Coach, you’ll deliver fun, engaging, and rewarding sessions that help participants develop their skills, confidence, and love for sport.
Required Qualifications: Scottish Coaching Certificate (SCC) Level 1 in Gymnastics Coaching in one of following disciplines: General, Women’s Artistic, Men’s Artistic, Trampoline or Preschool.
Gymnastics Activity Instructor (GAI).
Climbing Instructor
Join us and help customers of all ages, stages and abilities develop their climbing skills at the iconic Edinburgh International Climbing Arena: Ratho. Our coaching programme offer taster courses, family introductions and an outdoor climbing programme, where we teach, coach and deliver sessions to all levels.
Required Qualifications: Rock Climbing or Climbing Wall Instructor qualifications
Tennis Coach
Join our Tennis Coaching team and work with all ages and abilities at our top-class facilities at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre and Meadows Tennis. Help support the delivery of a range of tennis sessions and coaching lessons for children and adults.
Required Qualifications: Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Level 1 Assistant and an up-to-date LTA Coach Accreditation.
Athletics Coach
Join us and help deliver our Athletics Coaching programme at the state-of-the-art Meadowbank Sports Centre. Support by delivering fun and engaging athletics sessions, encouraging participants to a healthier, and lead a more active life.
Required Qualifications: UKA Coaching Assistant or a SCQF Level 5 in Sports Leadership.
Diving Coach
Join us and work at the renowned Royal Commonwealth Pool. Work with top-of-the-range diving facilities, including a world-class diving pool and dry diving teaching area. Our Dive Coaching programme offers a full pathway from preschool to performance diving, developing athletes from their first dive to national and Olympic-level competition.
Required Qualifications: Scottish Swimming Coaching Qualification (SSCQ) in Diving.
Multi-sports Coach
Edinburgh Leisure also delivers smaller coaching programmes in Football, Badminton, Netball and Basketball. Come join us and help deliver a range of sporting skills across a variety of activities as part of Edinburgh’s biggest coaching programme.
Required Qualifications: SCQF Level 5 in Sports Leadership.

We provide paid training over the majority of our six priority sports. Through expert guidance, hands-on experience, and industry-recognised qualifications, we’ll support you every step of the way.
