Enjoy some of the highlights from the Climbing World Cup 2017. More info, results, pictures and report on the IFSC website

The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena (EICA: Ratho) is hosting the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup and Paraclimbing Cup in September 2017. This is the first time the World Cup has been held on British soil since 2003 and the first time the Paraclimbing Cup has been held in Scotland. The competition will run from 23 - 24 September and will attract over 2,000 visitors including; competitors, support teams and spectators from approximately 25 different countries.

IFSC World Cup

Qualifying athletes will compete in both the lead and speed disciplines. Lead climbing pitches the climber against incredible physically challenging and visually impressive climbs requiring tenacity, flexibility, strength and stamina and a good dose of guile to succeed. Speed climbing, which takes place on two identical head-to-head climbs, requires explosive power to propel the climber to the top of the 15-metre wall. An event not to be missed!

Paraclimbing Cup

Up to 50 climbers will take part in up to 10 categories in lead climbing – men’s and women’s AU-1 (arm amputee); men’s and women’s AU-2 (forearm amputee); men’s and women’s visually impaired B1, B2 and B3; men’s and women’s AL-1 (seated) and AL-2; men’s and women’s RP1, RP2 and RP3.

Bring the family along and enjoy this unique event including catering and pop up bar! Soak up the electric atmosphere and walk amongst the world elite climbing superstars. This is one of the biggest events on the climbing calendar and one not to be missed.
