Coaching Viewing Weeks

Following the success of our pilot viewing sessions last year, we're delighted to be able to arrange for parents/guardians to come and view classes in even more venues and sports this year.

Feedback has shown that parents/guardians valued the opportunity to see what their child was experiencing in class and that the session provided more opportunity for communication with teachers/coaches.

Before the summer holidays we are holding sessions for parents/guardians for the venues and sports below.  We are developing an annual programme of viewing weeks - so if you don't see your child's sport or class below don't worry, we will be holding further sessions during the year.

To work out when to come - simply find your child's class and venue in the table below.  You can then come and see their normal class at the normal time during the dates of the 'viewing week'.

You can find the class name on your Coaching Home Portal if you're not sure. Follow this link to the Coaching Home Portal.

  • If your venue doesn't have a viewing balcony/gallery or spectator seating - you are invited to watch the class from either on the poolside or in the sports hall. Space on poolside and in our sports halls is very restricted. Unfortunately this means that we can only invite one parent/guardian with no other children to these areas. (See below for which area is available in each venue).

  •  To ensure our facilities remain as clean as possible - if you are on poolside or on any carpeted/matted gymnastics or martial arts area, please take appropriate indoor footwear to change into or remove your shoes.

  • Our standard rules around coaching classes apply, so:
    - Use of cameras, mobile phones or laptops is not permitted.
    - No food or drink (except water).
    - Please do not disturb the coach/teacher during class.
    - Where possible, there will be another member of staff available to answer general questions.

1. Our Victorian pools  have a  pool balcony or viewing gallery from which to view classes. These pools are:

  • Dalry Swim Centre
  • Leith Victoria Swim Centre
  • Portobello Swim Centre - except lessons in the small pool where you will be invited to view the lesson on poolside
  • Warrender Swim Centre

During the viewing sessions there will be an additional member of staff available during lessons to answer any questions.

2. At our other centres you'll be invited to view the class from poolside or in the sports hall/studio. These venues are:

  • Ainslie Park Leisure Centre
  • Drumbrae Leisure Centre
  • Gracemount Leisure Centre
  • Queensferry High School
  • The Royal Commonwealth Pool Teaching Pool. If your child's swim lesson is on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and in the main pool you can use the spectator seating as normal.
