New to climbing or bouldering? Our Taster Sessions are the perfect way to get started, with expert guidance and all the equipment you need included.
Climbing Taster Session
If you want to experience rope climbing on our impressive indoor walls, a Climbing Taster Session is the perfect place to start.
- Try roped climbing with the support of a qualified instructor.
- Suitable for adults and children aged 8+.
- Available for individuals or groups of up to three people.
- Learn the basics in a safe and friendly environment.
- Experience a variety of climbing routes and wall heights.
- After your taster, if you an adult and think climbing is the thing for you, a Climbing Start Up course is the next step before climbing independently.
Bouldering Taster Session
If you’d like a fun, social and accessible introduction to climbing without ropes or harnesses, try a Bouldering Taster Session.
- Climb shorter walls over padded safety matting.
- Great for building strength, balance and confidence.
- Suitable for adults and children aged 8+.
- Group-based introductory session led by an instructor.
- Most adults can progress directly to Boulder Registration after their taster session.
- One of the quickest and most accessible ways to start climbing independently.

EICA Ratho is located in the Ratho area, to the west of Edinburgh. The venue provides extensive on-site car parking facilities.
New Direct Bus
A new direct bus service between Edinburgh and EICA will launch on Monday 31 August 2026. Open 7 days a week the bus will run hourly with stops at Ratho Village, Hermiston Gait, Haymarket and Waterloo Place.

Parking Changes at EICA
We’re updating parking arrangements at EICA to help maximise the available spaces for our customers. Free parking will continue to be available all day at EICA by entering your car registration number on the tablets found around the venue Charges will apply for non-customers or failure to register your number plate.
