We’re Here to Help – Support When You Need It
Starting at the gym or pool can feel like a big step, whether you’re completely new or coming back after a break. If you’re trying something different or feeling a bit unsure, support is there when you need it.
At Edinburgh Leisure, the aim is to help you feel comfortable from the start, whether you’re finding your feet or getting back into a routine.

Inductions Aren’t Just for New Members
An induction isn’t just for your first visit. You can book one any time you want a bit of extra help or feel like you need a reset.
That could be a refresher on the equipment, help updating your programme, or just the reassurance of knowing you’re using things in a way that works for you.
A gym induction gives you one‑to‑one time with an instructor who will:
- Talk through your goals and any health considerations
- Show you how to use the equipment safely and confidently
- Help you get started with a programme that suits you
If you’ve already had an induction, a gym review is a good way to check in and make sure your programme still suits what you need. It can be especially useful if your goals have changed, you’ve been away for a while, or things have started to feel a bit repetitive.

Support Beyond the Gym: Swim and Activity Inductions
The gym isn’t for everyone, and it doesn’t need to be. There’s support for swimming and other activities too, so you can find something that feels like a better fit.
If the pool feels a bit intimidating, our adult swim classes are there to help you build confidence at your own pace. They cover a range of levels, whether you’re starting from the basics or want to improve your technique and stamina.
Adult swim classes include:
- Beginner: build confidence in the water and learn the basics
- Improver: develop technique and swim longer distances
- Stroke Development: refine strokes, turns and efficiency
Classes run across our venues and are led by experienced coaches who understand that adults learn differently and build confidence at different speeds.
