Oh we do like to be beside the seaside… how about you? Our much loved and restored Victorian ‘baths’ are situated alongside the beach on the main Portobello Promenade, offering modern swimming pools, gym and fitness studio and home to Edinburgh's only authentic and publicly available Turkish Baths.

Our 25 metre five lane pool has a moveable floor which allows the depth to be altered making it even more versatile for pool based activities and with a smaller pool for teaching.

As a forerunner to the modern jacuzzi, our Aerotone will leave your body and mind refreshed and exhilarated.

Whether you've never swum before,  just starting out or more confident in the water, we can offer coaching to support you on your swim journey. We have Beginners' sessions where you can gain confidence and learn different strokes. More confident swimmers can develop their technique and fitness at our Stroke Development classes. Adults of all ages, including those over 60 years, are welcome.  

Swimming is a fantastic life skill and one shared by our swim teachers with thousands of children every year. Our coaching programme at Portobello starts with adult and baby classes all the way to stroke development classes for confident and competent young swimmers. 

If your children enjoyed water polo at a swimming class or holiday club, why not take it a step further? Our Mini Polo classes are a fun and energetic way to develop water skills and stamina. They’re also a good alternative for older children who feel they' have outgrown swimming classes.  We follow the Scottish Swimming Mini Polo awards scheme and teach the basic skills required in the sport - passing, catching, shooting and treading water.
