IFSC European Climbing Championships Lead & Speed Edinburgh 2019
What are IFSC European Championships?
The IFSC European Climbing Championships are European championships for competition climbing that run every two years. These are organised by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) European Council.
Competitors compete in the disciplines of Lead, Speed, and Boulder. Competitors compete for titles in their individual disciplines, as well as an overall combined title taken from the overall ranking across the disciplines. These disciplines can be held in the same event or across different ones.
The 2019 IFSC European Climbing Championships for Lead & Speed will be held at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena (EICA): Ratho, 5 miles from Edinburgh Airport, Friday 4th - Sunday 6th October 2019. Please note that tickets can only be bought for Saturday and Sunday - qualifications on Friday will not be open to the public.
Edinburgh was successful in securing the championship, following a joint bid by EventScotland, City of Edinburgh Council, The British Mountaineering Council (BMC), Mountaineering Scotland and in conjunction with Edinburgh’s International Climbing Arena (EICA): Ratho.
The competition will be held at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena (EICA) in Ratho, Edinburgh, Scotland. EICA: Ratho is Europe's largest indoor climbing arena and has hosted a number of high profile national and international competitions in the past including 2010 IFSC World Youth Climbing Championship, 2014 IFSC European Climbing Championships, and in 2017, the IFSC Climbing World Cup and Paraclimbing Cup.
