RLSS Drowning Prevention Week – Saturday 13th to Saturday 20th June 2026
Edinburgh Leisure is proud to support RLSS UK’s Drowning Prevention Week, which runs from Saturday 13th to Saturday 20th June 2026.
Drowning Prevention Week is a national campaign led by the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) aims to educates children aged 5 to 17 each June with crucial water safety advice just before the summer holidays, when young people are outdoors more and need these skills and knowledge most, so everyone can enjoy water safely.
We encourage you to explore the below resources by yourself or with your children to help educate them on water safety.
Water Safety Education Resources
Education Scotland has produced a playlist of videos on water safety available on YouTube to bring crucially needed awareness and skills, ranging from identifying hazards, cold water shock and how to help someone in trouble.
The RLLS has also shared a handy set of posters to learn how to identify the meaning of beach flags and how they correspond to water safety. Try study them and see what flags you can spot on your next visit to the beach! You can download and print these using the button below.
