Meadowbank Sports Centre has been at the heart of sport and physical activity for almost 50 years and we're sad to close the doors on this part of Edinburgh's history. However we're looking forward to the creation of a new Meadowbank. The new state of the art Meadowbank will be located on the same site and is due to open in 2020. It will support physical activity, sport, health and wellbeing in Edinburgh for generations to come. It will include the following:
- An outdoor athletics track with a 500 seat stand and outdoor throwing and jumps area
- An indoor athletics track and jumps space
- Two multi-sport games halls
- Three fitness studios
- A gym
- A gymnastics hall
- Two squash courts
- A combat studio for martial arts
- A boxing gym
- Two 3G (synthetic) pitches
- There will also be a cafe and meeting rooms

Masterplan Submitted for Meadowbank Sports Centre Site
The Council-led regeneration of Edinburgh's Meadowbank has taken another step forward with planning applications submitted Friday, 26 January.
Detailed planning consent for a new £46.9m sports centre on the existing site of the famous venue, built for Edinburgh's hosting of the 1970 Commonwealth Games, will be considered by Councillors alongside a masterplan application to develop surplus land adjacent to the new stadium.
Residents, users, and other interested parties are invited to view and comment on the proposals online (reference codes 18/00181/FUL for the Sports Centre and 18/00154/PPP for the development site) until Friday 23 February 2018.
