What is Hyrox?
Hyrox is a unique global fitness race designed for athletes of all levels, combining running and functional workout stations.
It consists of eight 1-kilometre runs, each followed by a functional workout.
These workouts include a variety of exercises such as rowing, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, farmer’s carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls, and ski erg.
The combination of running and functional exercises ensures a comprehensive workout that targets every major muscle group and pushes your cardiovascular endurance to its limits.
Evolve Meadowbank - Hyrox Training Club
Edinburgh's newest Hyrox Training Club, Evolve at Meadowbank, will open to members and casual visitors on Monday 14th October
At Evolve you'll find brand new state of the art facilities featuring all the official equipment required to train for a Hyrox event. You can also take part in specialised Hyrox training classes and expert guidance and training advice.

Are you running Hyrox Race Events?
No, Evolve is a Hybrid Gym, which can be used to train for many different hybrid competitions including Hyrox. It is a Hyrox affiliated training club but will not host live Hyrox Race competitions. In time we may look to run HYROX simulations in lead up to HYROX events.
Can anyone do Hyrox?
Yes! HYROX is available for all fitness levels, There's a minimum amount of skill required to complete the eight separate exercises and no time limit for completion. Our Evolve coaches can assist all levels of experience from complete newcomers to seasoned Hyrox participants.
What level of fitness do I need to have to take part?
HYROX welcomes athletes of all fitness levels, from beginners to elite athletes, There are various divisions ensuring everyone can compete in a suitable category
Do I have to be competing in Hyrox to train at Evolve?
No, Hyrox
provides a great focus for training at Evolve. However, our Hybrid Gym can be a great experience to
train towards your general fitness goals, whether that includes Hyrox or not.
What is the format of the race?
HYROX consists of 8x 1km runs inbetween 8 functional exercises which are
- 1km ski erg
- 50 m sled push
- 50 metre sled pull
- 80 metre burpee broad jumps
- 1km rowing
- 200m farmers carry
- 100 metre sandbag lunges
- 100 wall balls
What are the different race categories?
Open, pro, doubles, pro doubles and relay (4 athletes)
Where do HYROX events take place?
All over the world, North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. UK events can be found in Glasgow, London, Birmingham and Manchester.
