What is Learn to Lead Sport Climbing?

This 7 hour session is designed for indoor climbers who consistently climb 6a, are competent bottom rope belayers and are ready to take their first steps towards leading on outdoor bolted routes. Delivered at a 1:2 ratio, the course offers intensive coaching and plenty of hands on practice.

During the course you’ll learn how outdoor sport climbing systems work, including how bolted routes are structured, how to clip safely and efficiently, and how to manage your rope while leading. You’ll develop safe, controlled lead belaying skills using appropriate devices and clear communication, improve your clipping techniques, body positioning, and route‑reading on outdoor rock, and learn how to safely lower off and clean an anchor – a fundamental skill for climbing independently outdoors.

Transport to and from EICA and equipment is included although we encourage you to bring your own climbing shoes, harness and helmet. The location subject to weather conditions.

Please note you must be 14 years+ to attend, any participants under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a participating adult.
