Edinburgh’s newest Olympic-standard bouldering walls have launched at Edinburgh International Climbing Arena!
Plus, our brand-new Bouldering Zone is now open on Level 3! It joins our Arena Bouldering Walls and existing Bouldering Room, giving you more variety and more room to climb at EICA, whatever your level.
New to Bouldering
Anyone looking to boulder unspervised is required to complete our online registration form before visiting.
For those looking for help in getting started then there is a one hour Bouldering Start up Course available but this is not mandatory in order to boulder at EICA.
The Start up course is available for up to 6 people aged 18 years or over and no experience is necessary

With custom-built walls, fresh new routes, and a bright, welcoming space to climb, it’s suitable for all abilities – whether you’re brand new to bouldering or a seasoned climber.
This exciting upgrade is part of our Bouldering Refurb Project, made possible with support from the sportscotland Sport Facilities Fund.

If you have climbed before but are a new visitor to EICA Ratho you must register as a climber by completing the below form.
All new climbers will be asked to complete a competency test upon arrival.
Competent and registered climbers can bring up to two guests to climb under their supervision. A customer can sign guests in at reception where a guest form must be completed upon arrival.

Returning pay as you go climbers, just check in and pay at reception first. You can find the casual price list here. - New to EICA:
If you’ve climbed before but haven’t been to EICA Ratho, you’ll need to complete a registration form and pass a quick competency check when you arrive. Click here for the Bouldering Registration form. - New to bouldering/climbing:

Bouldering refurb project
Renovations at EICA began in June 2024 with a £100,000 grant from sportscotland’s Sport Facilities Fund. The upgrade introduces an Olympic-standard bouldering wall, designed by Rockcity, making EICA the only UK climbing center equipped for all three Olympic disciplines: lead climbing, speed climbing, and bouldering.
As the UK’s largest climbing gym and its sole international competition venue, the arena can now fully support events across all IFSC disciplines
