We are Edinburgh Leisure, the biggest and best sport & leisure provider in Edinburgh. We have charitable status and are a ‘not for profit’ organisation. And we love it. Every penny we generate is invested back into providing our services. Indeed we have no means of distributing any surplus funds even if we wanted to.
Edinburgh Leisure was created in 1998 to manage and develop sport & leisure services on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council. We are a company limited by guarantee and therefore do not have share capital or shareholders. We hold charitable status and were awarded ‘social enterprise’ status in 2010.
We're now a leading leisure trust with a turnover of £23 million and growing, 750 employees and over 4.1 million customers a year.
Acting together with our partners, we will continue our successful journey towards inspiring Edinburgh to be a more healthy and active City. In short: ‘Altogether Active’.
You have probably heard of Meadowbank Sports Centre or the Royal Commonwealth Pool; Port Edgar Marina or the Braid Hills Golf Course – they are all operated by us. We run a whole range of facilities, including: sports and leisure centres, swim centres, golf courses, tennis courts, bowling greens, outdoor football pitches and, now, the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, Ratho. Just check out the venues section to see the whole list.
And that isn’t all! No sir. We also offer coaching and activities for people of all ages and abilities.
