No longer an Uphill Struggle!
For those of you who may have taken part before, you will be delighted to know that the course for 2008 has altered slightly. No longer will you have to run up The Mound; the course will take you down it this year giving you time to admire the breathtaking views of Edinburgh's historic New Town, the Firth of Forth and beyond to The Kingdom of Fife. MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!
A long time ago in a meeting room far far away, one of the ‘great run’ staff (who has probably seen Star Wars far too many times) pointed out that this year the Edinburgh run is on the now unofficial Star Wars day – May 4th, hence ‘May the 4th be with you’.
Having seen some impressive Darth Maul & Darth Vadar fancy dress costumes at the BUPA Great Yorkshire Run and an awesome storm trooper at the BUPA Great North Run, we though why not have a ‘best dressed Star Wars competitor’ at this years BUPA Great Edinburgh Run? At first the Communications Director wasn’t too impressed – but the office 'geek’ said "I find your lack of faith disturbing" and using his Jedi power, with a wave of his hand he said "you will send this press release out", and thus it was done.
So for all you Star Wars fans – there will be a photo shoot at the start line as well as a best dressed Star Wars competitor award.
