An active child is more likely to become an active adult – so get them into the habit now! After all there’s no better way for children to keep fit and healthy than participating in regular sporting activity. Encouraging children to take part in sport whilst they are young is one of the best ways for them to become equipped with the physical ability and confidence to keep active throughout their lifetime.
Taking part in regular sporting activity strengthens bones, aids co-ordination, balance and flexibility, improves stamina and concentration and reduces body fat. Activity fights depression and anxiety, improves confidence and provides a real sense of achievement.
Edinburgh Leisure has the capital's largest coaching programme for children. We've some of the best coaching expertise around and all our coaches are fully qualified within their respective field. Many of our coaching programmes are open to those with additional support needs. Sports such as diving, golf, gymnastics, swimming, tennis and trampolining provide opportunities for people with disabilities to attend mainstream coaching classes whilst sailing and kayaking require certain levels of mobility and can accommodate individuals accordingly.
