| The RYA Powerboat Training Scheme
For the purposes of this scheme ‘powerboat’ is defined as a small powered vessel up to about 8 metres in length and without accommodation. All levels of instruction are covered from the complete novice to the most advanced levels.
- Powerboat Level 1. This introductory course is now available to 8 to 11 year olds.
- Powerboat Level 2. Universally recognised as the National certificate of competence in basic boat-handling skills. Adult courses are run many weekends, but we also offer ‘youth’ courses for 12 to 16 year olds.
- Intermediate Powerboat. Follows on from Level 2, providing the skills and knowledge required for safe cruising under power in daylight.
- Advanced Powerboat. Now upgraded to provide an introduction to coastal passage making for both leisure and commercial users.
