Free Open Weekend at Portobello

To celebrate the recent makeover of the gym (re-opening on 1st September) and exterior of the building, we’re holding two free open days on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September between 10am and 4pm.

We’re putting on a number of free activities including free health checks and a rowing challenge (with a fabby prize draw). And whether you’re a current member or a new visitor, we’ll give you the opportunity to enjoy a tour of our newly refurbished gym, which includes 24 new pieces of gym equipment including:

• New cardiovascular kit with built in tv screens and MP3/iPod connections, so you can watch telly or listen to your favourite tunes while you exercise.
• Two brand new free motion AMT trainers, which have been very popular at other Edinburgh Leisure gyms
• But it’s not just about the gym equipment. We’re also giving the gym a new splash of paint, and the carpets and ceiling tiles are being replaced. 
• Last but not least, we’re upgrading the ventilation system, which will bring much more fresh air into the gym.

As if that wasn’t enough, we’re providing some free refreshments, face painting for kids, and if you’re thinking of joining Edinburgh Leisure, we’ll be running our no joining fee offer.

Welcome to Portobello Swim Centre 

With a welcoming mix of of traditional Victorian features and modern facilities, Portobello is a first class swim centre situated right on the beach in Edinburgh's seaside resort.

Come and try out the facilities - the swimming pool, state of the art gym, fitness studio, or relax in our Turkish Baths with three hot rooms, steam room, plunge pool, and relaxation areas plus Aerotone bath available.  We also have a lovely cafe where you can enjoy a coffee or something to eat and a fabulous view over the beach and out to the Forth.
