Exercise after Stroke
Having successfully supported employees through the accredited Exercise for Stroke Specialist Instructor Training Course, Edinburgh Leisure now offers reduced rate exercise opportunities to people who have been affected by Stroke. Edinburgh Leisure work closely with a multidisciplinary team of NHS Stroke Specialists to ensure the service delivered is in line with the most up-to-date guidelines.
A 16 week pilot scheme, which was launched on 23rd September 08, enabled a total of 26 participants referred by health professionals to begin to exercise. Since then, the programme has been reviewed and participants can be referred by a Health Professional to either 1:1 gym sessions or group circuit-based classes in a range of centres across the city. Each session costs the participants £3.00 but participants must be referred by their practitioner before they can attend the classes.
