Put some ‘Spring’ back into your life! Want to get fit, try something new or meet new people? Then Edinburgh Leisure’s Active Futures programme can help.

We have a range of great new programmes starting in April, to book a space on any of the activity sessions please contact Claire in one of the following ways:

Taking part is completely FREE but places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment!

Activities available between April and July include:

  • Ice Hockey
  • Trampolining
  • Climbing
  • Biking
  • Hillwalking
  • Dance
  • Gym Sessions

Basketball Sessions

He shoots, he scores! - Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in Scotland. Bring your mates or come on your own, you’ll soon be ready to take to the court and show off your "Jordanesque" moves.

When: Sundays, 6-9pm,(6th April – 29th June 2008)(Girls: 6 – 7.30pm & Boys 7.30 – 8pm)

Where: Ainslie Park Leisure Centre

Ice Hockey Sessions

Ice Hockey – the worlds fastest team game. Edinburgh Leisure is working in partnership with Edinburgh Capitals to provide this exciting 12 week programme for all levels.

When: Saturdays, 1-2pm (10th May – 12th July 2008)

Where: Murrayfield Ice Rink

Trampolining Sessions

Bounce into summer with this fun acrobatic sport.

When: Tuesdays, 5.30 – 6.30pm (15th April – 2nd July 2008)

Where: The Crags Sports Centre

Dance Sessions

A fun introduction to street dance and hip hop with MiMi. This is a girls only session.

When: Wednesdays, 11.30am – 12.30pm (14th April – 18th June 2008)

Where: Leith Victoria Swim Centre

Gym Sessions

This is a session for you whether you are confident in the gym or have never stepped foot inside one before….It’s your time and your workout. Qualified staff will be on hand to help create a workout specifically for you

When: Wednesdays 1.30 – 2.30pm & Sundays, 1.30 – 2.30pm (9th April – 29th June 2008)

Where: Leith Victoria Swim Centre

Climbing

If you’re looking for a natural high then climbing is the activity for you!

Course 1

When: Tuesdays, 2.00 – 4.00pm (8th April - 29th April 2008)

Course 2

When: Tuesdays, 6.00 – 8.00pm (13th May – 3rd June 2008)

Course 3

When: Sundays, 12.00 – 2.00pm (22nd June – 13th July 2008)

Where: Meadowbank Sports Centre, Alien Rock 1, Alien Rock 2 & Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, Ratho.

Biking

Biking is an ideal way to have fun, escape, explore and keep fit all at the same time!

Course 1

When: Tuesdays, 6.00 – 8.00pm (8th April - 29th April 2008)

Course 2

When: Sundays, 12.00 – 2.00pm (18th May – 8th June 2008)

Course 3

When: Tuesdays, 2.00 – 4.00pm (17th June – 8th July 2008)

Where: Meeting at Bangholm

Hillwalking

Bored of the hustle and bustle of city streets? Then sign up to hillwalking and see Edinburgh from a whole new angle.

Course 1

When: Sundays, 12.00 – 2.00pm (13th April – 4th May 2008)

Course 2

When: Tuesdays, 2.00 – 4.00pm (13th May – 3rd June 2008)

Course 3

When: Tuesdays, 6.00 – 8.00pm (17th June – 8th July 2008)

Where: Crammond, Blackford Glen, Cammo Estate & Arthurs Seat

 

The above activities are part of the Edinburgh Leisure led Active Futures programme and are open to young people from Edinburgh aged 16-25 years, who want to get more active.

If you have travel concerns or childcare is an issue please contact me directly we may be able to offer support.

Through our partnership with Capability Scotland we are able to provide support workers who can work with disabled individuals and coaches to support the inclusion of disabled young people into mainstream physical activity provision.

Our partnership with Friends of the Award also means that all activity undertaken through the Active Futures programme can be credited towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
