St. Margaret's Park
The four tennis courts at St. Margaret’s Park have an acrylic playing surface and are available for public use throughout the summer. Individuals are welcome to pay and play on a casual basis. At times when the courts are open but not staffed, customers are welcome to play free of charge, subject to availability.
Opening times and hours The courts will be staffed, generally between 12 noon and 8pm during the playing season – April and September. However the courts will remain open out with the times that they are staffed, and you are welcome to play on the courts at no charge at these times.
Booking a court The courts don’t need to be booked in advance, depending on availability anyone can simply pay and play. However if you want to avoid disappointment courts can be booked uo to 7 days in advance. Bookings can be made using an Edinburgh Leisure card or by paying at the time of booking. Bookings can be made in person at the venue or by telephoning the venue you want to play at on the following times:
(April, May, June & September) (April – September 2008) Mon – Sun 16.00 – 19.00 Mon/Tue/Thurs/Fri 12.00 – 21.00 Sat – Sun 11.00 – 17.00
(July & August) Mon – Sun 12.00 – 20.00
Coaching programmes St Margaret’s Park offers coaching programmes for both adults and juniors, from absolute beginner right through to club playing levels. Coaching courses are aimed at developing individual playing skills and are delivered in groups with participants of similar playing standards. The venues also run group practice sessions which are aimed at individuals who want to develop their game with other like minded participants.
Childrens coaching sessions Edinburgh Leisure offers a tennis coaching programme at St.Margaret’s Park for children and young people aged 5 – 17 years. The courses are aimed at 2 different ability levels for each different age group. Please click here for a full timetable.
Level 1: For children with little experience of tennis and are still developing basic rallying and serving skills. Level 2: For children who can serve overarm, maintain a rally, and have a basic knowledge of how to score.
The term time programmes at St Margaret’s park are delivered on a weekly basis, and the holiday programmes are delivered on a week long basis. The kids will get a great opportunity to learn and develop their tennis skills, meet new friends and have lots of fun.
Children and young people drop off and collection arrangements When booking any of our junior tennis courses, please remember that St Margaret’s Park are open park areas. In the interests of your child’s safety, please let us know who will be picking your child up after their lesson, or whether your child will be making their own way home.
Adult sessions Sessions will resume from 8th April and continue throughout the season until Mid September. The only exception to this schedule will be during the school summer holidays when the sessions will cease temporarily: 2 July - 13 August inclusive.

Adult coaching courses Give it a BLAST – these coaching courses are delivered once a week, over a 4 week period, and are aimed at players who would like to try tennis for the first time or who have a little playing experience.
