And as if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got the Beijing Olympics to look forward to in August. Phew! How can you make sure that your summer is every bit as exciting as all that? A challenge alright- so it’s just as well we’re here to help! Whatever you’re after we’ve got it covered. Check out some of the ideas we’ve got for you here!
Stars in our eyes!
Were you one of the 1,625 lucky people to take part in Edinburgh’s biggest ever youth event, the BAA Youth Games on 15 May? What a day we all had! With it being Olympic year, we invited our friends and Olympic swimming hopefuls, Gregor Tait, Kris Gilchrist and Kirsty Balfour to help our host, forth one’s Mark Martin, to launch the event. And the stars just kept on coming, with Scottish rugby players David Callum and Craig Hamilton dropping in for a game of touch rugby in the afternoon! We took the chance to ask Gregor about his hopes for the games. Here’s what he had to say… ‘We’ve got the excitement and challenge of Beijing coming up, then the 2012 Olympics in London and the Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow after that, so much to look forward to’. Well said Gregor. And who knows, maybe YOU could be competing at the next Olympic games.
Are you the next Andy Murray?
Are you looking for a cool way to soak up the sun with your mates this summer? Then look no further, we have just the thing for you…. Tennis at the meadows! The meadows are the place to be and, with out 16 brand new courts, you’re guaranteed to have a smashing time. Even better news, you don’t even need to book in advance, yep that’s right, you can just turn up with your £4.50 on the day and play for a whole hour! There’s normally a friendly member of staff at the courts between lunch time and 8pm during summer to lend you a few helpful tips but, even if there’s no-one there, you’re still more than welcome to play on the courts… for free! Or, if you’re keen to learn a few more fancy tricks, why not try one of out summer coaching camps? We’ve got week long courses for everyone, even if you’ve never held a racquet before! So what are you waiting for?
