Edinburgh Leisure offers a range of opportunities to get you started in teaching swimming and other aquatic activities, all of which are supported by fully qualified and experienced staff. You can learn at your own pace and with children, adults or young people, of an age you are most comfortable with. As well as swimming, you could try your hand at teaching aqua Jets, adult & child or nursery sessions, early competitive groups, water polo or rookie life-saving – we can even put you in touch with a local aquatics club if you are interested!
As you gain in confidence, you can access funding from Coaching Edinburgh to help you progress through the Amateur Swimming Association qualifications pathway. Once qualified with teaching and life-guarding certificates, you can be paid between £9 and £20 per hour, for as many or as few hours as you like. It’s a great way to develop a career or just enjoy a part time hobby!
No previous qualifications are required but you will have to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland background check and meetings with your mentor. Contact mail@edinburghleisure.co.uk for further information.
