Let your kids try watersports, and they could have a hobby for life. They’ll get out in the fresh air, meet people, learn safety in the water, and improve strength, fitness and coordination. Once they’ve done some Royal Yacht Association (RYA) or Scottish Canoe Association levels, they could also go for the adrenaline rush – with some dinghy racing or a spot of whitewater kayaking. We supply the equipment – from wetsuits and buoyancy aids, to boats, so they just need to come along to Port Edgar and be prepared to get wet.
Children can start kayaking, dinghy or powerboating courses from age 8 upwards, and keelboating from 12 upwards. From 14, they can move onto advanced dinghy modules such as seamanship, racing or spinnaker sailing. Courses generally take place at weekends or in school holidays, and we also run regular weekday sailing and paddlesports clubs during the summer. If your kids are not quite sure which watersport to sign up for, we have weekend and holiday-time children’s Multi-Activity courses to help them decide whether they prefer wind power, paddle power, or engine power.
