Climbing and Rock Sports

Up, up and away

Climbing, abseiling and bouldering are fantastic full body workouts, and they're not just for adrenaline addicts. The indoor climbing arena and bouldering room at EICA: Ratho offer hundreds of different routes, many simple enough for beginners. Then again, if you want to be stretched technically and physically, there are also fiendishly difficult overhangs and challenges. At all levels, you can build strength, improve flexibility, and exercise just about every muscle in your body. Climbing helps mental fitness too – it’s brilliant for de-stressing, as well as building confidence and focus.

At EICA you hire all the equipment you need, and there are instructors and courses to get you started or take you to the next level. You can abseil down a 25m drop, or climb up to 28m high, on easy routes or a daunting 8b. The bouldering room has routes ranging from V0 (very easy) to a formidable V15. Basically, there’s something for everyone. If you are already a competent climber, you can climb without supervision. Children under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adult, but 14-17 years olds can climb unsupervised if they are assessed first.
